Cascioni is located right in the center of a very special place: To our north is the Gulf of Arzachena, which gives our estate its marine border; to our east is Porto Cervo, about fifteen minutes away; to our south is the village of San Pantaleo, with its industrious artisans; to our west lie archaeological parks and the wild Gallura region. It’s difficult to make a decision rooted in logic. Far better to let go and indulge your desires.
Along the most beautiful stretch of coast in the Mediterranean, beneath a canopy of twisted junipers, on the white sand, among the granite outcroppings bathed by the crystalline sea, find yourself amid the gentle sound of the surf. See how it’s still easy to dream in this place—and how beguiling it would be to get lost here.
Nearby, on an electric bicycle; further on, by jeep, and then on foot. Along paths, at the bottom of gorges, along a bed of streams, towards the hills of Mount Limbara. Discover a different kind of nature. Rest under the shade of an oak tree as the midday sun warms the mastic plants, saturating the air with their scent. Or perhaps observe a golden eagle from afar, imagining a shepherd’s pang of apprehension as it glides into sight. Or just let your mind roam freely as you gaze into the distance.
Guided visits to the Arzachena Archaeological Park, a stone’s throw away from the estate. A Nuragic village, the mysterious “giants’ tombs,” the sacred temples: Each of these is unique in the world, representing unexpected evidence of a remote Mediterranean past, when this was already a chosen land, one that belonged to princes and kings.
Thursdays at the market in San Pantaleo: wrought iron, copper, leather, wood; patiently braided masterpieces, Sardinian textiles, handmade ceramics. Handicrafts and days belonging to another world, a distant time that still lives on right here.
Perhaps you’ll go just to pay homage to a historic destination. Or perhaps one evening you want to go dancing, to catch a glimpse of celebrities in the town square, to see those who have just crossed the globe to be here. All of this glamour and charm is just steps from where you lay your head at night.
Walk through the hedges, conversing with the gardeners and secretly deciding which seeds and cuttings to take with you when you depart. Plant them in your garden or on your terrace to remind you of this place when winter comes.
Or spend endless evenings at the SPA, detoxing in the sauna, enjoying massages with olive oil and natural essences from Gallura.
Early autumn— which begins sometime in October—often resembles late summer. The excursions are even more beautiful. Many visitors still go to the beach for a swim, enjoying the solitude. Meanwhile, we begin harvesting olives and transforming them into extra virgin olive oil in the estate’s private oil mill. Care to join us? As a souvenir, you’ll bring home a bottle of olive oil that no one else has.
